This week started out with some coaching on passing and dribbling the ball, with some excellent tips imparted onto the team by Lucy, our coach. We had a lovely mix of people from the first session as well as six new faces, and the last-person-standing tackling challenge set to get the blood flowing was passionately fought by all but ultimately won by one.
The group was then split and, after a spectacular own-goal by yours truly within minutes of kickoff we had a fantastic 5-aside game. Despite my disastrous early contribution, the Yellows were congratulated on exhibiting some excellent tactical passes using the skills learnt in the first half of the session, whilst the Blues showed off some admirable defending.
We will continue to meet at the Aston Villa Foundation Academy every Wednesday in March, 5pm-6pm for more coaching skills so if you want to come along and have a kickabout then please do!
