Our walk-in LGBT sexual health clinic is at the Birmingham LGBT Centre, 151 Hurst Street, Birmingham B5 6EW (at the Sherlock Street end of Hurst Street opposite the former Village Inn) and is open for STI testing (including HIV testing) as follows:
Monday 10am to 5pm
Tuesday 10am to 5pm
Wednesday 4.30pm to 5pm
Thursday 4.30pm to 8pm
Friday 10am to 8pm
Saturday 10.30am to 5pm
This is a walk-in service, no appointment is required, but you may have to wait at busy times. The tests take about 45 minutes: the HIV result will be provided immediately and the other test results will be sent to you by text message around 10 days after your test.
Please note that these tests are designed for people with no symptoms.
If you have symptoms (e.g. a rash or other change in your skin, pain when urinating, a discharge, swelling or bleeding) you should make an appointment with Umbrella Health, Whittall Street, Birmingham B4 6DH, where you will be seen by a nurse or doctor who can prescribe drugs to treat STIs. You can phone 0121 237 5700 for an appointment, or you can attend without an appointment, but may have to wait to be seen. Umbrella Health also operate a clinic at 65 New Street, Birmingham B2 4DU for people aged under 25. You can make an appointment by calling 0121 237 5700.
The whole process of rapid HIV testing takes 20 minutes and can be done in a few easy steps:
Our Sexual Health team runs an STI Testing Service at Birmingham LGBT Centre, 151 Hurst Street, Birmingham B5 6EW. This service is designed for people without symptoms. The service is walk-in (first come, first served) and is available at these times:
Monday: 10am to 5pm

Wednesday: 4.30pm to 5pm
Thursday: 4.30pm to 8pm

Saturday: 10.30am to 5pm
You will be given the result of the HIV test immediately, the results of the other tests will be texted to your phone around 10 days after the test. The tests are free of charge.
Our clinic is closed on Sundays.
If you’d prefer to make an appointment for a specific date and time, or if you have symptoms of an STI (e.g. rash, discharge, swelling, itching) and require drugs to treat it, then please phone Umbrella Health on 0121 237 5700 to make an appointment at their doctor-and-nurse-led clinic at Whittall Street, Birmingham B4 6DH. You can go to the clinic without an appointment, but you may have to wait to be seen.

Umbrella Health also runs a nurse-led STI clinic at Birmingham LGBT Centre on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9.30am to 4.30pm. You can make an appointment by phoning 0121 237 5700 or you can go to the clinic without an appointment, but you may have to wait to be seen.
Our NHS partner Umbrella Health provides nurse-led clinics at Birmingham LGBT Centre on Wednesdays and Thursdays. from 9.30am to 4.30pm. These are for people with either symptoms of an STI requiring prescriptions for drugs to treat them or for people requiring PrEP.
You will need to make an appointment by phoning Umbrella Health on 0121 237 5700 and requesting an appointment at Birmingham LGBT Centre.
It may be possible to attend this clinic on a walk-in basis on Thursday afternoons between 12:30pm and 4.30pm if no appointments have been booked.
If you want an STI test and do not have symptoms, you can use our walk-in clinic (open Monday and Tuesday 10am to 5pm, Wednesday 4.30pm to 5pm, Thursday 4.30pm to 8pm, Friday 10am to 8pm and Saturday 10.30am to 5pm).
