Hire Our Spaces

Birmingham LGBT Centre is located at 151 Hurst Street, Birmingham B5 6EW, in the city centre, a short walk from Birmingham New Street and Moor Street railway stations and their associated bus and tram stops.

Rooms are usually available for hire from 30 minutes after the Centre opens to 30 minutes before the Centre closes, i.e. 10.30am to 5.30pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, 9.30am to 8.30pm on Thursdays and Fridays, and 11.00am to 5.30pm on Saturdays. The Centre is closed on Sundays.

There are no car-parking spaces at the Centre. There are some street parking spaces nearby and there are pay car parks at The Arcadian Centre and The Bull Ring Centre.

The Centre is all on the ground floor, with step-free access from Hurst Street.

Smoking, vaping and drinking alcohol is not allowed anywhere in the Centre. We run a sexual health clinic and confidential counselling sessions during the Centre’s opening hours, so groups are requested not to make noise that can be heard outside the room (e.g. by singing, chanting or playing music) to avoid disturbing other service users. We reserve the right to ask any group that disturbs other service users to leave the Centre at once without a refund of the room hire fee.

We can provide an urn or kettle with tea, instant coffee and water for £1.50 per person in addition to the room hire fee.

Community Hub

This versatile space has tables and chairs and can seat 20 people in boardroom style, or 48 in theatre style, or 40 in cabaret style.

Free WiFi is provided and a screen, projector, flip chart and  pens can be provided free of charge on request.

The Hub has ensuite gender-neutral toilets, including an accessible toilet, and an ensuite kitchen with a washbasin, refrigerator and dishwasher.

Community Hub Hire Prices

£75 per hour, £250 for 3.5 hours (half-day), £472.50 for 7 hours (1 day).

The following reduced rates apply for bookings by registered charities and unfunded LGBT community groups:

£45 per hour, £150 for 3.5 hours (half-day), £284 for 7 hours (1 day)

Meeting Room 1

This room has is equipped with modular tables and chairs for up to 15 people. Free WiFi is provided and a projector, flip chart and pens can be provided free of charge on request.

Users have access to gender-neutral and accessible toilets nearby.

Meeting Room 1 Hire Prices

£35 per hour, £116 for 3.5 hours (half-day), £220 for 7 hours (1 day).

The following reduced rates apply for bookings by registered charities and unfunded LGBT community groups:

£21 per hour, £70 for 3.5 hours (half-day), £132 for 7 hours (1 day)

Counselling Rooms

Our centre also has two counselling rooms which may be available for hire when not being used by our own counselling and wellbeing support teams.

Once agreed, you will be sent written confirmation and our terms and conditions. The hire fee must then be paid by bank transfer before the booked date.

Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a common condition in which the balance of bacteria inside the vagina becomes disrupted.

Chlamydia is a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) caused by bacteria. It is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the UK.

Genital Warts (sometimes called anogenital warts) are a curable sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by human papillomaviruses or HPVs.

Gonorrhoea is a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) caused by bacteria. It is the second most common bacterial sexually transmitted infection in the UK.

Hepatitis A is a viral infection which affects the liver. It can be passed on in various ways including sexually from some sex acts.

Hepatitis B is an infection of the liver and is caused by the hepatitis B virus which can be passed on sexually.

Hepatitis C is a viral infection affecting the liver. It has usually been associated with injecting drug use but we now know that it can be passed on sexually, particularly with certain sex practices.

Genital herpes is a common infection caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV). It can cause painful blisters on the genitals and the surrounding areas.

Lymphogranuloma venereum, or LGV, is a curable sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by a bacterium (a type of germ) from the chlamydia family.

NGU is inflammation of the male urethra (water pipe) which can occur due to various causes hence the condition sometimes being called Non-Gonococcal Urethritis (NGU).

PID is the name given to inflammation of female reproductive organs: the womb (or uterus) fallopian tubes, ovaries and surrounding tissues.

Pubic lice are tiny parasitic insects that live on coarse human body hair, such as pubic hair.

Scabies is a common and very itchy skin condition caused by a tiny mite called Sarcoptes Scabiei.

Shigella is an infectious bacterial infection. It is often a cause of food poisoning but can easily be passed on during sex.

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by a bacteria.

TV is a curable sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by a protozoon called Trichomonas vaginalis, or ‘TV’. Protozoa are tiny germs similar to bacteria.
