Rainbow Ramble – Sexy Sandwell – 11am Saturday 6th August Hamstead Station, Rocky Lane entrance 10:30am
Our summer walk will take us along the River Tame into the beautifully green landscape of Sandwell Valley with its variety of wild life. This easy, flat and dog friendly 4 mile circular ramble will be led by Andrew Mitchell and Simon Backhouse who will be telling us something of its past and present use. We stop for lunch at Forge Mill, where there is the opportunity to see the variety of animals kept on this working farm, and then we go around the lake to the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds visitors centre, and finally back to Hamstead station where we started We gather outside the Rocky Lane entrance to rail station from 10.30am ready to start walking at 11am and, as always, we will go whatever the weather. Car parking is limited near to the station, however there are spaces in the streets near to the Lidl store close by (B42 1NN) Please bring a packed lunch and wear comfortable footwear, and you may like to bring binoculars if you are a bird watcher.
