Rainbow Ramble – Nailing Northfield – Saturday 7th October
Join Ann and Mary, our guides, on this 4 mile walk through old Northfield village, a national conservation area where the Saxons walked before us and which was mentioned in the Domesday Book. This is a surprisingly green walk, mostly avoiding the main roads and including Manor Farm Park, Lord Cadbury’s “back garden” to Northfield Manor. There are many points of historic interest from medieval times onwards. The walk will finish at The Black Horse, a grade 2 listed building which now hosts a Weatherspoons.
We will meet at Northfield Station ticket office at 10.30 for an 11.00am start and will go whatever the weather. Wear sensible footwear in case we need to go off the footpaths in the park. Bring a packed lunch if you need to eat before the walk ends at about 2pm. After optional refreshments at the pub, the walk leaders will be happy to accompany you back to the railway station, about a 15 minute walk. Alternatively, the pub is on the main bus route into Birmingham City Centre with a choice of three buses. We do hope that lots of you will be able to join us on a walk that will avoid the frenetic shopping rush that is modern Northfield!
Come, have a great time and make new friends 😊
