FREE annual competitive sports skills event for individuals or teams of four. Come along and try a range of activities provided by local LGBT and inclusive clubs and organisations. This year’s programme includes football, hockey, badminton, rugby, swimming, water polo, rowing, running, dance and table tennis.

Pride in Sport’s now annual competitive sports skills event takes place for the fifth time on Saturday 9th April 2016. Following last year’s successful & enjoyable event, Activate partners University of Birmingham are hosting again. Activities will be held in the Munrow Sports Centre courts, studios and pool and on the outdoor pitches. The local LGBT sports clubs and other inclusive clubs and organisations organise and run the individual events. Birmingham LGBT volunteers support registering and marshalling.

As last year, we will have Badminton, Football, Rowing (indoor), Rugby, Running, Swimming and Table Tennis. New for this year will be Hockey and Dance skills. In our feedback survey, most people say they are likely to come this year and to recommend it to friends (net promotor score 40, for those of you who want to know such things!). Around 100 people registered last year, so we expect even more this year. You can compete as an individual or as a team. Where the activity needs a team, individuals are just put into teams to compete in that particular event.

Points are awarded for performance, persistence and presence! Some points are easy to obtain regardless of skill – others are more difficult to earn. Not all events are offered all day – we do want to give the clubs running the activities a good chance to compete. So, with all these variables, we are expecting increasingly sophisticated gaming this year!
