We’re all contributors to LGBT history month – Alexus
Enter stage right the ‘usual suspects’ a-wailing and a-screeching at yet another attempt to ‘ram’ the Gay Agenda down their throats. Oooeerr missus. As Michael Winner may have said, calm down dear, it’s only a celebration.
Born out of the abolition of Section 28, it has been a regular feature in the calendar since 2005. Not as showy or exuberant as Pride but an important event, nonetheless. So, what the hell is LGBT History Month?
As noted above, it is a celebration of the contributions made to society by members of the LGBT Community, be that in the arts, science, politics etc. There is a theme to the month, this year it is around ‘Science and Innovation’ and further details are here. It’s right to draw attention to the ‘movers and shakers’, those people who have made what could be described as significant contributions to the common good. But… we all create our own history, our own small footprints in the sand
We all have a history, and in our own way have impacted on society. It’s right to draw attention to the scholars and the scientists, the writers and the actors, their footprints are doubtless bigger than ours but never underestimate how living our lives has changed society.
So, let’s celebrate by living our lives, by being our true selves and never, ever giving a flying (redacted) to what the haters say.
