What will the workshop cover?
This informal workshop will focus on substance misuse, ways to reduce harm when using (safer ways to use drugs), drug interaction with other drugs, alcohol, and/or medication, the effects of substances on physical and mental health, and poly drug use. The workshop leader will lead an open discussion working with you to make more informed choices, give advice, and answer your questions in a confidential, safe, and judgement free space.
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about Substance misuse or is looking for impartial, confidential, and judgement free information on safer drug use, and the effects of different substances on your wellbeing and the wellbeing of others. If you want to know more about the drugs that you have used, or that a friend or partner is using, or just want to find out some more general information ‘Let’s Talk About Substance Misuse’ is open to you. This event has been designed to focus on issues that affect the LGBT community but it open to anyone who wants to attend regardless of sexual orientation or gender idenitity. The workshop will be run to focus on the needs and interests of those attending.
Who is running the workshop?
Phillippe Bonet from CGL (change, grow, live) has been a drug worker and trainer and is currently Regional Naloxone Lead and Regional Needle Syringe Programme Lead for CGL. He is one of the Deputy Chair for the National Needle Exchange Forum as well as a Trustee for Birmingham Christmas Shelter. He is also a regular speaker at National conferences and delivers drug use Lectures to the Birmingham Medical Institute as well as other organisations. Philippe is a strong Harm Reduction advocate and activist as he strongly believes in keeping Service Users as healthy and well as possible until they are ready to embrace recovery.
