Birmingham LGBT’s Statement on Recent EHRC Guidance

We are deeply concerned by the recent activity from the EHRC, including the recent scrapping of trans-inclusive guidance for schools, and Monday’s published webpage “Separate and single-sex service providers: a guide on the Equality Act sex and gender reassignment provisions”. This new webpage goes further than their own pre-existing statutory code of practice (which remains in place) and in our view reads as a “how-to” guide on excluding transgender people.

We will continue to advocate for best practice for the inclusion of trans people.
