Meet Char (she/her)
Tell us about yourself Char!
I help individuals and organizations achieve their full potential and embrace their authentic selves. I am passionate about mental health and autism advocacy, as a queer, autistic, woman of colour who has overcome many challenges and barriers. I love hugging trees ,waving at dogs and reminding people to look at the moon. I take deep breaths and light steps often.
I write features for Diva magazine , I’m the chair of the board for neurodiversity in business , and Director of people and culture for Birmingham pride. I have volunteered for UK Black pride for 6 years as well-being and inclusion officer, I’m also an ambassador for stonewall housing , where I have raised over 10k through my show @thebigqueerpoetryshow. I’m also a mentor for just like us, the young people’s LGBT charity.
What does Black History Month mean to you?
Celebrating , remembering and learning . We need to move away from ‘tolerating’ difference to embracing it.
