Volunteering at Birmingham LGBT can be a very rewarding experience. As a volunteer, you can be a valuable part of an impactful organisation supporting, celebrating and raising awareness for the wider LGBT+ community. Volunteering can help you develop skills that you can use in other areas of your life, and gain experience in the charity sector.
Our volunteers undergo induction training and are then offered roles, such as assisting with groups, outreach work, events and staffing Reception at the Birmingham LGBT Centre on a regular rota basis.
In addition, we have some one-off volunteer opportunities for groups and individuals, that do not require induction training, in the run-up to Birmingham Pride in May each year. Please note we do not offer volunteer roles nor placements in our counselling and wellbeing support services.
“By the end of the day, I left feeling lighter, braver, and so proud to be part of this amazing community.”
“I learned so much about the amazing LGBT community here in Birmingham and met people from so many different backgrounds and stories. It reminded me how diverse, strong, and beautiful our community truly is.”
“I actually felt a real sense of belonging that I haven’t really felt in a long time.”
