In this role volunteers support staff in the delivery of Sexual Health outreach work on PSE sites (Public Sex environments) across Birmingham. Volunteers will promote safer sex by providing clients with condoms and lube at cruising sites. Volunteers will invite clients and promote access to services within Birmingham LGBT including Sexual health testing, wellbeing services and counselling. This is remote volunteering with members of the sexual health team.
The qualities needed to perform this role will be discretion, a non-judgemental approach to clients who participate in cruising (outdoor sex). A discreet approach to service users. A good understanding of professional boundaries. For this role we are currently looking to recruit male only volunteers, access to your own vehicle would be an advantage but not essential. Expenses can be claimed for mileage associated with this work.

Would the role require specific training? Yes, there will be a brief training online over Zoom prior to the commencement of these roles. This will cover boundaries / personal safety / safety tips for clients / and information on Birmingham LGBT services to signpost clients into.
Location: Where will the volunteer be expected to go fulfil their role? All shifts will start and end at Birmingham LGBT. The work itself will be communitybased outreach in various locations across the city/region.
