Volunteer role Summary
· Call or meet with an individual from the LGBT+ community who self-referred to the befriending service
· Arrange and engage in weekly calls or meetings to provide a friendly ear and company to an individual from the LGBT community · Email feedback after every call or meeting to the volunteer coordinator in a timely fashion · Be reflective on own communication style and adjust when required

Application process: Email sianfinn@blgbt.org with your interest, complete a volunteer application form, attend an informal interview, and provide two references and complete a DBS check.
How long will the role last for? How ever many phone or face to face befriending sessions are required by the participant on the program. Reviews will take place after every six sessions. |
Contract Type: How many hours per week/month/year? 3 training days + 5 hours per month. |
Would the role require specific training? Yes, three full days throughout a12 month period, one for core training about the organisation, one day for befriender training and additional refresher training after six months in the role. |
Location: Training to take place online and/or at Birmingham LGBT Centre. befriending sessions to take place at Birmingham LGBT Centre or recommended venues across Birmingham city centre. |
