Queering the City – Participant call out
Posted on 22-06-2022 by Maria HughesExciting opportunity to create 3 new artworks inspired by queer spaces!
We are looking for participants to work with artist Lucy Hayhoe & Birmingham LGBT over two weekends in July to explore ideas around queer space and reimagine queer spaces of the future. Through a series of workshops and guided creation sessions participants will create telephone booth sized miniature queer spaces, designed for one person at a time. The finished artworks will be exhibited at Birmingham LGBT as part of Birmingham 2022 Festival.
No previous experience necessary, just a willingness to get stuck in, work collaboratively and maybe get a bit messy! Guidance, support and all materials and tools will be provided by the artist team.
This opportunity is for Birmingham based women, trans, gender non-confirming & non-binary folk, who are often excluded from commercial gay spaces.
Local travel costs will be reimbursed, and refreshments provided.
Dates:
Sat 9th July 12pm -4pm Workshop 1: Exploring queer spaces now
Sun 10th July 12pm – 4pm Workshop 2: Designing queer spaces of the future
Sat 16th July 10am – 5pm Build day one
Sun 17th July 10am – 5pm Build day two
Thurs 21st -Sat 23rd July: Exhibition open to the public
