Rainbow Ramble – Pride Monday

Posted on 12-04-2018 by Jack Deakin

What: A guided walk of four miles with LGBT walking group the Rainbow Rambles, open to all

Where: Starting by the bridge next to mac, Cannon Hill Park B12 9QH

When: Monday 28th May at 11am (meet from 10:30)

This is an ideal way to banish those post Birmingham Pride blues and celebrate Spring.

Simon Backhouse invites you to join him for a lovely four mile stroll on what will hopefully be a sunny Bank Holiday!

The walk, in the Rea Valley area in the southern suburbs of Birmingham, is surprisingly rural – at times there is not a building in sight

We will gather by the bridge over the river just outside the mac (Midlands Arts Centre) from 10.30am. Leaving at 11am promptly we walk across the adjacent parks of Cannon Hill and Highbury Park which are linked by a strip of woodland and area of grassland. Apart from the parks, historic interest is provided by glimpses of Highbury Hall, home if Joseph Chamberlain, the nineteenth century statesman and thrice Mayor of Birmingham.

We will go whatever the weather so please come prepared. This is a circular walk, parts of which may be muddy, so we recommend that you wear appropriate footwear and it is probably not suitable for dogs. During the walk we will stop for those of you who want to bring a packed lunch, and there is a cafe when we return to mac.

Regular buses run to and from the city centre, and there is parking nearby.

Do come, enjoy yourself and make new friends 😊
