Communicate with Confidence – Voice group for trans (MTF)

Wednesdays 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th October, 10am – 12pm

Birmingham City University South Campus, Westbourne Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham B15 3TN

FREE for MTF trans people

This is a new group for people to explore their ‘new’ voices, run on Wednesday mornings, for people to gain support and advice on using your voice in a safe space. It might mean playing around with your pitch, overall sound or ‘resonance’, articulation style, etc. Members will be respectful of each other and support each other’s progress.

It is a group As we also want to make sure that voice changes are comfortable and ok for you and not cause damage to your vocal folds, we will also cover voice care advice based on the current evidence base.

The group will be facilitated by Carol Glaister, an experienced Speech and Language Therapist, with the support of student practitioners.

Rainbow Bridge: World Mental Health Day

World Mental Health Day is a day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma.

Rainbow Bridge will be hosting this year’s World Mental Health Day event for Birmingham LGBT.

You are invited to come along to our informal coffee morning and find out more about what Birmingham LGBT and Mind have to offer for your mental health and wellbeing. Refreshments available.

Birmingham LGBT Mindfulness Workshop

The workshop is a safe, positive space to learn tips in anxiety management, how to boost self-esteem and confidence.

‘Colour Your World’, led by founder and teacher, Rachel Ashcroft, is a wellbeing company which works to teach methods of stress relief, anxiety management, confidence building and resilience through a combination of Mindfulness and Meditation, NLP coaching, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT) and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) techniques.

As a fully accredited practitioner of Mindfulness and NLP, with extensive training in the field of wellbeing and stress management, Rachel works with children, teenagers and adults one to one, runs group workshops, delivers talks and supports people to help them see the world in ‘colour’ again, when at times things can seem very grey.

Rachel teaches mindfulness for wellbeing to people of all ages and backgrounds and runs training sessions and workshops within the workplace and online with great results.
