Activate at Birmingham LGBT are very pleased to announce this exciting “Move in Movies” dance project taking place at the Birmingham Royal Ballet over spring and summer 2018!

A dance project inspired by movies

“Move in Movies” is a creative dance performance project inspired by classic films. It aims to give opportunities to people who have an interest in music, dance and drama.

BRB are particularly looking for those with interest but little or no dance experience.

The workshops will be led by dance artists and a musician from Birmingham Royal Ballet.

As well as learning dance and choreography, participants will be part of creating a performance that will be performed for family and friends.

As a participant you’ll have:

  • An introduction to ballet and dance skills
  • An introduction to choreography
  • The chance to be part of creating your own dance piece
  • The chance to perform
  • The opportunity to make new friends and be part of a great team
  • The opportunity to work with people of different ages
  • A great way to build confidence and show friends and family what you can do
  • The chance to work with fantastic artists who work all over the world

You’ll need to attend:

  • Weekly Thursday dance classes that will run from 19th April until 5th July 2018 and will be held in Birmingham Royal Ballet studios from 6.30-8.30pm
  • Two full day intensive rehearsals on Sunday 13th May 2018 (10am-5pm) and Saturday 16th June 2018 (10am-5pm)
  • Performances: Friday 6th July 2018 (4pm-9pm) and Saturday 7th July 2018 (10am-4pm)

Successful applicants will be notified by Friday 13th April and invited to project launch reception on Thursday 19th April 6.30-8.30pm at Birmingham Royal Ballet studio, Thorp Street, Stage Door Entrance, B5 4AU.
