New Fitness Class TimetablePosted on 01-08-2018 by Jack Deakin
July 2018 saw the official conclusion of the Sport England funding for the Activate programme at Birmingham LGBT, which has funded hundreds of fitness classes in the Vault and activities as diverse as fencing, kayaking, climbing, roller derby and cycling across the city, as well as offering support to Birmingham’s LGBT sports groups.
A reduced programme of activities continues weekly at the Birmingham LGBT Centre:
Timetable from August 2018
Table Tennis 6.30pm – 8.30pm
Trans/Non-binary Circuits 6pm – 7pm
Line Dancing 6.30pm to 9pm
Yoga 5.30pm – 6.30pm (Beginners)
Yoga 6.45pm – 7.45pm (Improvers)
All these sessions are held in The Vault – our on-site fitness studio. Equipment is provided but it’s a good idea to bring a bottle for water.
Please arrive on time for circuits and yoga – and a few minutes early the first time to complete a little paperwork.

Activate was a Sport England-funded project, designed to encourage LGBT people in the area to try new sports, and challenge homophobia in sport, after feedback that there was not enough provision for the community.
We’ve been privileged to have four years’ funding, after the initial three-year grant was extended to bring our community an extra year of sport and fitness activities in the light of the many positive benefits this was showing.
As well as the sessions above, you can walk, run, swim, climb, or play football, rugby, badminton and water polo with Birmingham’s fantastic LGBT and inclusive sport groups.
So you can still get involved, meet like-minded people and improve your fitness!
