The Vault Fitness Studio
This fitness studio is part of the Birmingham LGBT Centre.
The Vault offers a workout space with a large mirror and a range of fitness equipment, including:
- Table tennis tables, bats and balls
- A range of medicine balls (1kg-9kg), kettlebells (4kg-12kg), bars (2.5kg) and hand weights (1kg-5kg)
- Punchbags, boxing gloves and pads
- Mats, yoga bricks and straps
- Skipping ropes and hula hoops
It has a water fountain, sound system and a non-gendered changing area including a cubicle (but no shower).
There is also pre-loved and vintage box of donated fitness clothing in the changing rooms which is for anyone to use and either keep, or wash and return.
It’s used for a free weekly programme of fitness classes for the LGBT community and can also be booked for a workout in small groups (bookings need to be made in advance – contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Two or more people are needed for safety as the room is in a former bank vault in the basement of the building and doesn’t have mobile signal!) or hired by personal trainers for private clients.
It’s suitable for up to 8-14 people, depending on the activity.
