You can choose any or all of the sessions. All you need to do is register for the session/s you fancy on Eventbrite and make sure you’re ready for an amazing day on Sunday 17th June. You’ll need to do a separate registration for each session you’ll be coming to, but it’s quick and easy to do.
What: Free day of dance – introductory classes featuring four different styles. There are more details below.
When: Sunday 17th June, four hour-long classes between 10am-3:30pm.
Where: Studio 5, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Thorp Street, B5 4AU. Thorp Street is about five minutes walk from New Street Station and is just round the corner from the Birmingham LGBT Centre.
No previous dance experience is needed for any of the sessions.
The day begins with this fantastic classical dance, introducing you to the basics of barre work and working with you on strength, flexibility and grace. It’s harder than it looks, but the teacher will get you dancing! How many people can say they’ve danced ballet with the BRB?
An opportunity for you to feel like a Strictly star, the introduction to ballroom dancing session will get you moving across the floor before you know it. An exciting chance for everyone to dance ballroom without the restrictive gender roles of traditional sessions!
This fabulous, fun session will get you dancing a short routine to modern music, getting your brain working alongside your body to coordinate and move, it is a brilliant way to take your mind away from the day to day!
Commercial is all about attitude and flare! If you’ve imagined yourself dancing on the Eurovision stage, this is the style to get you going. This session will be an energetic and exciting workout to fabulous tunes to finish your amazing day with the BRB.
All you will need is comfortable sportswear (or lightweight stretchy clothing you can move around in), socks, and indoor trainers – or you can wear ballet shoes for the ballet session if you have them.
It’s a good idea to bring a bottle of water or other soft drink along.
