About Peer Mentoring

Our trained volunteer LGBT Peer Mentors are here to offer support to fellow community members, to explore questions they may have related to their gender, sexuality or sex-life in a friendly and relaxed environment. LGBT community members will be paired with our trained Peer Mentors to share experiences to support participants have a happy, healthy sex life and support them to have greater understanding of looking after their well-being.

The volunteer peer mentor will meet with their peer mentee at Birmingham LGBT or at an appropriate public space, regularly for anything up to an hour and half for 6-8 sessions; the package will be tailored to meet your individual holistic needs depending what is going on in your life right now.

How to refer:

We are now ready to take referrals from individuals; GPs and the NHS; voluntary or statutory services, or colleges and universities. A potential Peer Mentee will be invited in for an initial chat to make sure this service is suitable for them; otherwise we have a range of services that we can refer you into.
